Calatagan: : Venue for Community Exposure Program of De La Salle Zobel School’s Senior Students

Calatagan, Batangas - A new batch of senior high school students came for their community exposure visit at Barangay Bagong Silang over the last few weeks. The locals who have served as host families were gracious enough to accommodate the students in their respective homes. Activities include interacting for a day with their foster families, having sessions with the kids and youths, and involvement in community service.

De La Salle Zobel Reaches Out To Barrio School

More than 200 students of Luya Elementary School, a very remote public school in Calatagan, Batangas, were overjoyed when the staff of the De La Salle Zobel School(DLZS) visited them to distribute boxes of school supplies and other goods.

Ito ay proyektong pinagtulung-tulungang isagawa ng Alay Kapwa Kilusang Pangkalusugan (AKAP), UP-Pahinungod, E. Zobel Foundation, Rural Health Unit of Calatagan at Calatagan Medicare Hospital.

Zobel Family Continues to Support Students Health and Nutrition

A healthy body contributes to a healthier mind. This was the belief of the late Zobel patriarch, businessman and philanthropist Don Enrique Zobel. That is why the Zobel family, through its social arm, the Enrique Zobel Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization, continues his legacy of upholding students health and nutrition by undertaking various nutrition programs. Just recently, they partnered with the Rotary Club of Makati and Kabisig ng Kalahi in launching the supplemental feeding program as a response to the growing problem of malnutrition among the school children of Calatagan, Batangas.

A Makeover For Libraries

The Library Management Seminar, attended by more than 30 public elementary and secondary teachers, became one of the catalysts in transforming the school libraries of Calatagan National High School, Enrique Zobel Elementary School and Santiago Zobel Elementary School into a colorful, functional, and organized room for learning. Thanks to the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School teacher volunteers in coordination with the E. Zobel Foundation, who organized the day-long seminar.

Book Mobile Project

The De La Salle Santiago Zobel School recently launched their Book Mobile Project, a concrete La Sallian response to poor children in public elementary schools who have little or no access to quality learning materials. One of the first recipients of this learning support project is their sister school, Santiago Zobel Elementary School. The other beneficiary school is Enrique Zobel Elementary School.

Carmela Name, Read-A-Thon Winner

Carmela Name, a grade three pupil from Santiago Zobel Elementary School, won first place at the District and Area Level Interactive Reading Competition held in December 2009. She also placed third at the Division Level. Her regular stint as storyteller at the I ♥ 2 READ sessions developed her confidence and skills in storytelling that helped her won the competition.
