TEACHER TRAINING FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHING IN ENGLISH, MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE FOR PUBLICH HIGH SCHOOLS

COASTAL CLEAN UP & MANGROVE TREE PLANTING with E. ZOBEL FOUNDATION, DE LA SALLE SANTIAGO ZOBEL SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

In celebration of the Coastal Clean Up Campaign, the E. Zobel Foundation spearheaded the clean up drive and mangrove planting in Brgy. Balibago, Calatagan, Batangas last September 22, 2012. The one-day event mobilized almost a hundred people composed of the Zobel scholars, De La Salle Zobel School students and the local community headed by their barangay officials.

Mabilis na tumakbo si Pikpakbum at tinangay ang kapirasong karne. “Pahingi naman,” sigaw ni Tiktaktok. “Bigyan mo ako kahit konti.” Sumagot si Pikpakbum, “Kainin mo ang paa mo!” At tumawa habang tumatakbo. .............and the students, too, had a nice laugh as they enjoyed the interactive storytelling on “Tiktaktok at Pikpakbum,“ confidently presented by invited Grade 2 students from Dalima Elementary School in Tuy, Batangas, during the I ♥ 2 Read Project’s July 7, 2012 reading activity held at the EZF garden, Calatagan, Batangas.

WHAT A FUN DAY!

Amidst the scorching summer heat, over 700 elementary students, teachers and other guests trooped to the Hacienda Bigaa Open Field to partake in the E. Zobel Foundation’s 2012 Fun Day, with this year’s theme --- Fitness First, an annual celebration commemorating the 8th death anniversary of the businessman-philanthropist, Don Enrique Zobel.

 
SUMMER ART WORKSHOP YEAR 3

“Kung meron lang sanang pagkakataon o lugar para mas mapagbuti pa ng aming anak ang kanyang talento sa pagguhit, ay susuportahan naming mag-asawa.” This was the wish of Jan-jan’s mother as she tenderly looked at his son, who was so engrossed in doing a sketch of Sto. Domingo De Silos, the Patron Saint of Calatagan. He bagged the third place in the poster making competition organized by the parish and the first place in the Oral Health Care Program poster making sponsored by the E. Zobel Foundation.

 
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

A. ELEMENTARY Out of the 66 elementary scholars which we assisted during the School Year 2011-2012, 15 students have graduated in March and are now promoted to first year high school***. ***Beginning this School Year 2012-2013, the K+12 model will be adopted by the Department of Education. This model involves Kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school (Grades 7 to 10) plus another two years of senior high school (Grades 11 to 12). The two years extension will provide the students of in-depth specialization on the occupation/career track they wish to pursue.

 
Supplemental Feeding Beneficiary

Eleven year old Jan-Jan, as he is fondly called by his classmates, was a former beneficiary of the feeding program at Jose Caisip Elementary School (Calatagan, Batangas) funded by the Rotary Club of Makati in 2006. He was in Grade 1 then, very frail, a bit short for his age, and severely undernourished.

 
Calatagan Celebrates National Dental Month

The E. Zobel Foundation, in partnership with Unilever Philippines, U.P. Pahinungod and the Department of Education Calatagan District, recently celebrated the National Dental Month with the theme “Ngiting Matatamis, Ngiping Malinis, Dala ay Pag-asa, Tunay na Ligaya” (Sweet Smile, Clean Teeth, Bring Hope and Genuine Happiness).

 
Bike to School

Dear Wind of Asia, Hi, I am Joey Malabanan, a freshman student at Calatagan National High School (Calatagan, Batangas). My parents and I would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to the Wind of Asia for granting me with bicycle which I am now using in going to school. Before, my transportation to and from the school was Php70.00 a day. With this bike, my parents are able to save Php 1,400.00 a month, which can now be used to fund other family necessities.
