CULTURE AND ARTS

Culture and Arts activities generate greater awareness and appreciation on the local history and culture. The lecture series educated the public on the archeological aspects and its relevance to the present time. The introduction of the spoken word poetry as a meaningful means awakened the consciousness of the people of its history and culture. Various forms of arts like ballet dancing, capoeira painting, singing and crafts making for schoolchildren were also introduced and well- appreciated.

    The E. Zobel Foundation offered a two-day free at Art Workshop last summer to talented students from the different public and private schools of Calatagan, Bata ngas. The Summer Art Workshop was designed to develop and improve the innate talents of the aspiring artists in painting. A mix of elementary and high school students registered and completed the course. Art materials were provided free to the participants.

He bagged the third place in the poster making competition organized by the parish and the first place in the Oral Health Care Program poster making sponsored by the E. Zobel Foundation.

    Museo Enrique Zobel, built in honor of EZ and home to Zobel family memorabilias and the town’s local artifacts, is consistently attracting more tourist and local residents as well. Students also had a wonderful time touring the museum and learning from cute arts and crafts sessions organized by EZF along with the tour. Last year, a total of 2,812 guests surely have found a wiser and a better option when they travel to Calatagan as the EZ Museum is more than a place of enjoyment but more so a venue for learning.
