The Junior Chamber International – Makati Princess Urduja, Inc. in partnership with LGU Calatagan and the E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. organized iSea G.R.A.S.S. Project Environmental Awareness Campaign entitled Environmental Ethics: Key to Coastal Ecosystem Conservation Seminar last February 20 2016 at the Enrique Zobel Technical Center, Calatagan, Batangas. The objective of the forum is to provide better understanding and appreciation on the importance of sea grass in the marine ecosystem. Given its vital role in maintaining ecological balance in the ocean, the local people are encouraged to nurture an area where they can grow and protect sea grass. It is the first of the lecture series to be conducted with the local community of Bagong Silang. The second phase of the project is S.H.A.R.E. (Seagrass Habitat Restoration Program) Livelihood Program . This will involve lectures and hands-on training on proper sea urchin farming using caged farming technology. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources will provide the needed technical assistance in this livelihood project.
