Calatagan’s 22 Elementary Schools Benefit from Various Feeding Programs

Program: Health And Nutrition

The old adage, “When it rains, it pours,” is definitely true in Calatagan, Batangas. Through Kabisig ng Kalahi headed by Ms. Vicky Wieneke, the E. Zobel Foundation (EZF) received four modules of supplemental feeding under the program, Pasiglahin ang Estudyanteng Pinoy (PEP) which will benefit 120 identified undernourished pupils from grades 1 to 3 from four elementary schools. The Rotary Club of Makati and Silver Secret are funding these modules which will run for six months. The EZF is also funding one module for 30 students at Enrique Zobel Elementary School under the PEP program. Other schools which do not have an existing supplemental feeding program have received two months supply of milk courtesy of Mead Johnson Nutrition spearheaded also by Kabisig ng Kalahi, EZF’s long time partner in school health and nutrition initiatives. The 22 elementary schools as well as the District Supervisor, Dr. Ronaldo Sevilla are very thankful of the blessings from the big hearted partners and wish that through this intervention, coupled with the strong support of the parents and the communities, malnutrition in the district of Calatagan, will be combated.
