“Kung meron lang sanang pagkakataon o lugar para mas mapagbuti pa ng aming anak ang kanyang talento sa pagguhit, ay susuportahan naming mag-asawa.”
This was the wish of Jan-jan’s mother as she tenderly looked at his son, who was so engrossed in doing a sketch of Sto. Domingo De Silos, the Patron Saint of Calatagan. He bagged the third place in the poster making competition organized by the parish and the first place in the Oral Health Care Program poster making sponsored by the E. Zobel Foundation.
The mother’s wish came true as Jan-Jan was among the fifteen participants in the May 9-12 Summer Art Workshop organized by the Calatagan Art Gallery and sponsored by the E. Zobel Foundation.
Mr. AG Saño, a visual artist (who also led the one kilometer mural painting activity at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center), and the other trainers of the art gallery, taught the attendees several aspects of sketching, drawing, and painting through organized set of modules with varied indoor and outdoor activities. At the end of the four-day workshop, all the participants’ outputs from the first up to the fourth day were displayed at the Calatagan Art Gallery. During the graduation ceremony, their parents could not help but beamed with pride as they gazed at their child’s artwork. No one would think that the artworks were done by elementary and high school students especially when they were framed and mounted at the display wall.
To the participants and the trainers, our congratulations!
